Activities at Bart's for children
We have a wide range of children's activities:
Children's church
A Sunday school is held during the first part of the 10 a.m. service on most Sundays of the year (not during the school holidays or when the main service is all-age, when children are expected to stay in the main service). There are two classes, one for children approximately 3 to 6, and the other for 7 to 12s. There is a schedule of singing, prayer, bible stories and lessons, and craft and other activities. All our children's leaders are of course thoroughly trained and background-checked. The children's church leader is June Forbes.
Creche
A creche runs every Sunday during the 10 a.m. service to care for children under Sunday school age. Children are cared for in the church hall, part of the main building, so they can easily be taken in or out of the creche during services. The creche is co-ordinated by Kenlyn Fleary.
Junior Choir
This is suitable for children between around 7 and 14. They sing children’s songs from a mixture of traditional and modern sources, including African and Caribbean songs, at all-age services and some other special services. There is one thirty minute practice per week. The Junior Choir is trained by Dennis Baugh.
All-age services
Around ten times per year the regular 10 a.m. service on a Sunday is changed to a more informal setting aimed at including younger children.
Sundays at Six
Once a term there is an additional short service in the evening aimed at children around 7 - 10 years of age.
Youth group
See Adam, Nic or Claire for details of Angels Anonymous, our youth group for young people in Year 7 and above.
Brownies
Brownies activities are available to any girls aged 7 to 10, subject to space in the group - there is no requirement to attend the church or the linked primary school. The Brownie pack meet in the church hall but are not sponsored by the church. Please contact Jayne Newman on 020 8778 6048 for details.
Meetings are held on Wednesdays in term time between 6:45 and 8:15 p.m. Activities include badge work, games and crafts. Brownies take part in church activities such as readings and collections at all-age services. There are regular day trips and an annual pack holiday weekend away.
